Harare, Zimbabwe –The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) apprehended two foreign nationals at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (RGM) on Tuesday, 1 May 2025.
The suspects, arriving on a flight from Thailand, were allegedly found in possession of nearly 70 kilograms of cannabis, locally referred to as “skunky dagga.”
According to a ZRP Twitter thread, authorities intercepted four Monarch-brand suitcases during a routine inspection. The luggage contained:
– 18.5 kilograms of loose cannabis in the first suitcase,
– 17 kilograms in the second,
– 18.4 kilograms in the third, and
– 16 kilograms in the fourth.
The combined haul totaled approximately 69.9 kilograms of the drug, suspected to be high-potency “skunk” cannabis. The ZRP confirmed the suspects face charges of drug trafficking but withheld further details, including their nationalities, stating, “More information will be released in due course.”
