Two police officers have been arrested after a video showing them taking bribes in Harare’s Central Business District went viral on social media.

In the video, a female police officer is seen sitting on a plastic chair at Parkade Rank, located at the corner of Nelson Mandela Street and Rezende Street, while accepting money from suspects.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest of Constable Mupandira and Constable Chirengendure. He said the two officers are now facing both disciplinary and criminal charges.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police informs the public that Constable Mupandira and Constable Chirengendure have been arrested,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He also emphasized that the police force does not tolerate corruption and will ensure that the law takes its course.
