Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on African leaders to stop complaining about Donald Trump’s decision to cut aid and instead focus on using Africa’s own wealth wisely. Speaking at the East Africa Region Global Health Security Summit, Kenyatta said Africa is rich in minerals and resources, but much of its wealth is wasted on conflicts where people kill their own brothers and sisters.
Kenyatta pointed out that African countries do not pay taxes in the United States, so Trump is simply prioritizing American needs. He noted that the U.S. spends $50 billion a year on foreign aid, but African nations should not depend on this support. Instead, leaders should take responsibility for managing their resources better.
He criticized African leaders for living in extreme luxury while their countries struggle with poverty and failing healthcare systems
