A Zimbabwean woman based in the UK has shared a heartbreaking story about how her own sister betrayed her by getting into a relationship with her husband. Memory Mahwita opened up in a powerful interview on DJ Ollah’s podcast, leaving many listeners shocked.
Memory said the betrayal happened while she was already dealing with serious challenges at home. One of her children is fighting cancer, and the other has autism. She said the emotional pain became too much for her to carry alone.
“This traumatised me deeply,” Memory said. “To cope, I started getting tattoos. When I get cut and see the blood, I feel a sense of relief. It’s the only way I feel alive.”
Her words left DJ Ollah stunned, and many listeners said she needs emotional support. Memory said she is getting help in her own way — by attending masowe, a popular spiritual church gathering in Zimbabwean culture.
“I go to masowe for healing and peace of mind. The church accepts me, even with my tattoos and piercings,” she said.
