Elisabeth Isabel Valerio is a Zimbabwean businesswoman, biochemist, conservationist, and politician. She is the leader of the United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA), a political party she established in 2022.
Valerio made history as the only female candidate for president in the 2023 Zimbabwean general election. The United Zimbabwe Alliance which was formed in May 2021 was officially launched on March 16, 2022, at the Andy Millar Hall in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Valerio began her career as a biochemist before moving to Hwange, where she became a dedicated environmentalist. In 2020, she led a national campaign urging President Emmerson Mnangagwa to halt coal mining in Hwange National Park and other protected reserves.
Following her appeal, the Zimbabwean government announced that no mining would occur within any national park in the country. Valerio is also the founding Chairperson of the Association for Tourism Hwange, reflecting her commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism.
