Katsande, who hung up his boots in 2022 after playing for Sekhukhune United, is highly regarded for his tenure at Kaizer Chiefs, where he made more than 300 appearances, netted 18 goals, and provided nine assists in his role as a defensive midfielder.

During his international career, he earned 27 caps for the Zimbabwean national team and scored three goals.

In his new position, Katsande has been appointed to ZIFA’s Ad Hoc Committee for Diaspora and Global Interaction, as reported by FARPost.

The committee, which is headed by Marshall Gore, aims to enhance connections between Zimbabwean footballers, fans, and stakeholders living abroad.

It also plays a vital role in scouting talented Zimbabwean players overseas who could potentially join the national squad.

Gore, a football enthusiast based in the UK, has successfully identified promising talents like Jordan Zemura of Udinese, Tawanda Chirewa from Huddersfield Town, and Cardiff City’s Andy Rinomhota.

We expect Katsande’s extensive experience and influence in international football to bolster these efforts.

Katsande joins other committee members, including vice-chairperson Modern Ngwenya, Walter Musanhu (owner of Jadel Football Academy), and Tizirai Luphahla.

As one of the most engaged retired Zimbabwean footballers living abroad, Katsande is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Warriors by helping to identify and integrate top talents from the diaspora.
